SHS Boys Cross Country - 5th Year in a Row as Champion

The SHS Cross Country boys dominated Regionals! On Monday, October 28, the boys traveled to Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock to run their regionals cross country meet. The boys did it again. They were the 1st team in the region, to finish with the lowest score, totaling 51 points. The boys pulled through and yet again landed another trip to state for their 5th consecutive year!

The SHS boys had three cross the line in the top ten. The first runner being Jon Torrez, came in 6th with a time of 17:19. Followed by that Koy Torres was in 8th place with a time of 17:22. Next was Tristan Cruz in 9th with a time of 17:23.  Other team members who ran were Elijah Peralez, Brayden Sanders, Luis Ramos, and Carlos Perez! Congratulations to the boys for being state qualifiers! State Cross Country is in Round Rock on Saturday, November 9th.

This year Jon Torrez is a senior, so it’s his fourth and final time to run at the State Cross Country meet. Jon believes as this Cross Country season comes to an end, “We only regret the chances we didn’t take and the miles we didn’t run.” Let’s go, Roughnecks. See you in Round Rock on Saturday, November 9th!
