SHS Girls 6th Regional Championship in a Row

For the sixth consecutive year, the SHS Varsity Girls Cross Country team won the Regional meet at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock. The October 28th meet was a monumental success! The girls cross country team are champions once again and defended their title for Region 1. Their team score resulted in 62 points altogether. The girls tallied up another trip to State for their 6th consecutive year! 

The SHS girls had three girls finish in the top ten. The first runner, Ashlyn Peralta, came in 4th overall with a time of 12:17. Followed by that Alyzah McGlasson crossed the line in 8th with a time of 12:32. Next, Gabby Peralta placed 10th with a time of 12:34.  Team members who also ran were Alexa Rodriguez, Grace Peralta, Jasmin Posadas, and Kadince Garza! State Cross Country is at Round Rock, TX on Saturday, November 9th. Congratulations to the girls! 

This year Ashlyn Peralta and Alyzah McGlasson are seniors. It is the 4th year in a row going to State. Ashlyn says if this as she begins to prepare for her final Cross Country meet she believes, “Risk something or forever sit with your dreams.” Alyzah commented as she wraps up her last run for the year, “It always seems impossible until it's done.” Kadince Graza adds this quote for her years of running, and for other future runners “It doesn’t matter how slowly you go, so long as you do not stop.”

Best of luck, ladies as you run at Round Rock one last time on November 9th. “Bring the Juice” and bring home a trophy!
