SHS Powerlifters Win Slaton Meet

On Thursday February the 13, the Roughneck powerlifters competed in Slaton. Out of the 26 Lifters that traveled to the meet, most of them weighed in at their desired weight class. Around 4:00 PM the lifting began. Top 4 lifters in each weight class received medals, and below is the place they earned in the meet along with their totals. 

Koy Torres placed 3rd in the 123 weight class with a total of 740 pounds. In the 132 weight class Aidon Olivas placed 1st with a total of 980 pounds, followed by Carlos Perez in 3rd with a total of 890 pounds. Next in the 132’s was Brayden Sanders in 4th place with a total of 830. In the 148’s Pablo Mendoza placed 2nd with a total of 1105. 

In the 165’s Cade Conway placed 1st and posted a total of 1175, and Grayson Richardson placed 4th with a total of 1040. In the 181’s Blake Hulse placed 1st with a total of 1415. Next was EJ Hernandez in 3rd place with a total of 1285, followed by Kevin Garcia in 4th place with a total of 1255.

Jonathon Golightly was in the 198’s and placed 2nd with a total of 1260, and Diego Hernandez placed 3rd with a total of 1205.  Gavin Richardson was in the 220’s and placed 1st with a total of 1260, and Zakary Gragson placed 2nd with a total of 1240. Andy Rodriguez in the 242's with a total of 1250 pounds. Jeffrey Rodriguez was in the 275 weight class and came in 4th place with a total of 1065. Nico Rodriguez was in the SHW’s and placed 2nd with a total of 1280.

Together the boys scored a total of 56 points and came in 1st place. Congrats to all of the lifters at the Slaton meet. All of the boys who went did a very great job, and all of the coaches are super proud of them!!! The next meet will also be held in Slaton on February the 20th for the girls.
