Sundown ISD COVID protocols for the 2021-2022 school year.

Masks, social distancing

  • The district is not mandating mask-wearing. Face coverings are optional for students, staff and visitors.

  • Social distancing will be maintained when feasible.

  • Bus rides will remain at the typical district capacity. (Not mentioned above.)

Sanitizing

  • Proper hand washing and respiratory etiquette for students and staff will be expected throughout the day.

  • The district will disinfect campuses and facilities daily, with an emphasis on high-touch surfaces.

  • Classrooms with a lab-confirmed case of COVID-19 will receive additional disinfection.

  • Hand sanitizer will be provided in classrooms, entrances and common areas.

COVID-19 tracing, testing and quarantining

  • Administrators will not always contact trace after each positive case on campus; however, when it is obvious a student has been exposed to COVID administrators will notify parents.

  • Students and staff will not be required to quarantine for exposure.

  • Students and staff are expected to stay home if any COVID related symptoms occur after a close contact exposure.  They can return after being symptom free for 24 hours or after receiving a negative COVID test.

I hope this clarifies our COVID expectations for the start of this school year.  If there becomes a need to make any changes, you will be notified as soon as possible.

Go Roughnecks and Roughettes!
