Branson Sanders Runs at the Plains XC Meet

XC Runs at Plains Invitational

The Roughnecks and Roughettes Cross Country Team competed last Saturday at Yoakum County Park. It was a great practice for the upcoming district meet also hosted by Plains at on Monday, October 11th.

The Varsity girls placed 3rd overall and finished as follows: Natalie Urias- 6th place, Francis Ybarra 22nd, and Ryann Quintanilla 27th. 

The Varsity boys had four notable finishes, placing 5th overall as a team: Koy Torres- 4th place, Branson Sanders- 5th, Watson Evans- 27th, and Hayden Powell 34th.

In the JV boys division, there were four notable finishes: Zayden Lopez- 8th, Johnny Acevedo- 9th, Jordan Pena- 10th, and Augustine Ortega- 18th.

When asked about the season, Head Coach Kerry Gleason commented, “The kids are progressing well! We are pushing through that mid-season hump, just trying to stay healthy and pass our classes. They have been putting in some hard work and will be ready to roll come district in a couple weeks.”  

The Junior High girls ended in 9th place as a team, with Sarah Posadas crossing the line in 7th place.

Finishing in 1st place overall, the Sundown Junior High boys  took home the gold. The Roughnecks include these six team members: Rolando Rivera- 3rd, Dago Chagoya- 5th, Nathan McAdams- 11th, Ethan Morales- 14th, Jaydith Shelton- 19th, and Nathan Franco- 20th.

This Saturday, September 25th, the high school teams will be running at Mae Simmons in Lubbock. Best of luck to our Roughnecks and Roughettes.
