Sundown Roughnecks New Employee - Jimmie Evans

Jimmie Evans is a new member of Roughneck Nation this year. She teaches upper level math on the high school campus. As a former Roughneck, she knows the values and importance of teaching here in Sundown and is excited to leave her mark on that legacy. Ms. Evans' favorite thing about Sundown so far is being back home, getting to be around family, and seeing the mentality of the staff and students that other schools might lack.

Growing up in Alpine, Breckenridge, and mainly Sundown, she graduated here and found her passion to teach. Ms. Chenault and Mrs. Precure really showed her what it is to be an “impactful” teacher. They both inspired her to carry on the legacy of being a strong math teacher. Ms. Chenault, in particular, showed her what it means to be a hardworking person both inside and outside of the classroom and to have high expectations. “I would not be where I am today without her guidance and support,” says Ms. Evans.

Ms. Evans went to college at Texas Tech University. She has two dogs, Rosie and Dobby, and three siblings who also attended Sundown ISD. Kickboxing and playing quidditch are some of her favorite hobbies. She loves to be active and enjoys reading and solving math problems and believes ,“The harder the challenge, the better!”

Evans favorite quote is “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” She loves that it can be applied to not only math but anything in life. Ms. Evans' favorite movie is August Rush. Her favorite food is all food!

Looking forward to a great year, Ms. Evans believes, “It’s a great day to be a Sundown Roughneck!”
