Loren Buchanan is now on her second go around teaching at Sundown Elementary, this time in 2nd grade with ELAR . Growing up in Longview, Texas she helped her mom during the summer and school year and she developed the same love and passion for teaching that her mom had. She chose to return to Sundown because of the “incredible sense of community and the trust that the administration has.'' Mrs. Buchanan also believes the culture here helps build well-rounded children and she wants her children to receive the education that Sundown offers.
One of Mrs. Buchanan’s lobbies include baking where she is assisted by her two girls, Evelyn and Ivy Mae. She graduated from Texas Tech University and her husband, Coach Travis Buchanan, is an educator and coach in Lubbock at Estacado High School.
Mrs. Buchanan’s favorite movie is Cinderella Man and her favorite foods are stuffed bell peppers, fried okra, and mashed potatoes! Her favorite quote is “Our greatest fear should not be of failure, but of succeeding at things in life that don’t really matter.” - Francis Chan
