2022 Senior Spotlight - Katy Lujan

Joining the class in the 5th grade, Katy Lujan has been a Sundown Roughette for most of her life. Looking back on her elementary years, her favorite memory was whenever she moved back to Sundown. In more recent years, Katy looks back on the time when they were on their way home from a softball game and Natalie tried crawling under the seat to scare Coach Gonzales, but instead of a good scare she had water sprayed on her face!

Throughout high school, Katy has maintained a spot on the AB honor roll. In 2019, she joined the National Honor Society and she was awarded a Leadership Award for mentoring elementary students in 2020-2021. She participated in social action this year, and continues to volunteer in in many areas at SHS.

English ll her sophomore year was Katy's favorite class in high school. Katy plans on attending the University of Texas in San Antonio and majoring in education or forensics. Coach Elam served as a role model in her high school career. Katy has tried to live her life by the Amy Poehler quote, “Don’t wait until the last minute to do your work.” Join me in wishing Kaitlyn Lujan and the rest of the Sundown Senior Class of 2022 a great remainder of the year and nothing but success in the future.
