Great day of dress up at Sundown Middle School as staff and students have been teamed into Team Reindeer, Team Elf and Team Snowman, earning a point for everyday they dress up! The competition is heating up… mainly with the staff, and we look forward to a great finish to this semester. Today was pajama day, and tomorrow is plaid/flannel day!

Dear Parents, Christmas is approaching quickly. Middle School has a wonderful tradition that we enjoy doing every year. The students in the middle school bring various items to put together in Christmas sacks to deliver to the elderly in Sundown. We will deliver them on Tuesday, December 20th as well as provide Christmas Carols! It is quite a sight to see our Sundown buses driving around town and dropping students off at houses to spread some good cheer. The SMS Leadership students will help assemble the “baskets”, but we need help from our students to donate some items. This year, for each item donated by a middle school student, their name will be entered into a drawing for one of three prizes. Listed below are a few ideas to consider: soups (easy to open) candies (hard or chocolate) individual fruit cups cookies (snack size) chap sticks juice bottles Ensure/Boost cans apples or oranges PB crackers granola bars pudding (snack size) applesauce (snack size) peanuts/nuts (snack size) raisins/craisins (snack sizes) Anything you can think of that is convenient for them to open and use. Please have all donated items sent to school by Friday, December 16th so that we have time to assemble the gift baskets. Ms. Webb’s room will be the drop-off room.

We are proud of the cast and crew of The Lightning Thief. They have been working since August to learn the music for this 2 hour, just off Broadway musical. We are doing a full performance! They have had to learn so much, as we don't have a choir program beyond 4th grade. Please consider coming to see them next week. Many of these kids are quiet and reserved and are going to surprise you! And if you come, you will get to see Mr. Rich in his theatrical debut! Thursday's and Saturday's shows start at 7:30 and Sunday's in a matinee at 2:00. Tickets are on sale on the school website. https://sundownisd.revtrak.net/oap/#/list Mr. R and his journalism class put a little trailer together and I've attached it below. Please share this with your friends and family as we are trying to get word out! Cast includes: Percy - Watson Evans AnnaBeth - Madi Nations Grover - Kevin Greenhaw Luke - Lincoln Keesler Silena - Jaelin Wiley Clairisse/The Oracle - Lizzie Corley Mr. Brunner/Chiron - Kevin Greenhaw Mrs. Dodds - Bailey Corley Gabe/Ares - Hunter Russell Katie - Emily Rodgers Aunty M/chorus - Anastasia Robinson Charon/chorus - Aria Hogan Squirrel/weatherman/chorus - Scarlett Lopez Thalia/chorus - Morgan Griffith chorus - Roxanna Mendoza Mr. D - Mr. Rich Crew: Brooklyn Webb, Meghan Stephens, Mariah Stephens, Karmindy Dietz, Carrigan Dietz, Katy Townsend, Yovani Amaya Delcid
