JV boys and JV girls get wins against Ropes:
Roughnecks 46-45 in overtime!
Roughettes 44-34.
Great start to the night!

Today, 17 members of the Roughneck Band traveled to Abernathy to compete among 900 students from other schools for a spot in the All-Region Band. All competed well, and 9 earned a spot in the A/AA High School All-Region Band!
Please help us congratulate the following students:
Makenzie Mulloy - 1st Chair Flute
Emily Rodgers - 8th Chair Flute
Shaun Lopez - 24th Chair Clarinet
Karizma Hoover - 4th Chair Bass Clarinet
Bailey Corley - 6th Chair Horn
Peyton Richardson - 2nd Chair Trombone
Lincoln Keesler - 4th Chair Trombone
Karmindy Townsend - 9th Chair Euphonium
Alana Ledesma - 2nd Chair Tuba
Also, back in December, we had two students compete for a spot in the Region 16 Honor Band, and one earned a spot: Daniel Mauldin, 4th Chair Euphonium and 1st chair in the “4A Track”. Daniel advanced to the Area round where he competed this past weekend and earned 6th in the Area among 1A-4A schools. These 10 high school students, as well as the middle school students we posted about back in November, will perform in the All-Region Band concerts on Saturday, January 25th!
On a side note: For those who qualified today, the clinician for the A/AA High School All-Region Band this year will be Barry Hurt, who was the band director in Sundown in the late 80’s when the band won three straight championships. What a neat opportunity for these kids, and for those of you who were in the Sundown band “back when”!
We hope you can come out to support these students and celebrate their accomplishments! We’ll post a schedule for the concerts as we get closer to the date. Way to go, Roughneck Band!
