By showing vulnerability, laughing at themselves, and embracing mistakes, our teachers are modeling what we want our kids to know:
- It’s okay to stumble.
- Growth comes through practice.
- Joy and laughter are part of learning.

💪🏈 Roughneck Pride 🏈💪 Our Sundown Roughnecks have been grinding since early August during two-a-days, but for many of our athletes, the journey truly began the moment last season ended. Coach Brannon Rodgers and our coaching staff have dedicated this season to teaching and modeling what it means to be UNCOMMON, rooted in biblical respect and the words of Matthew 7:13–14, which remind us that the easy road is wide, but the narrow road leads to life. Tonight, our boys showed what walking that narrow, uncommon path looks like. Yes, we are proud of their victory on the field, but even prouder of their character. The sideline carried a spirit of hope, joy, family, and support. Our athletes celebrated one another’s successes, cheered for each other, and showed an unselfish love that is rare in today’s world. This was more than a game. It was a glimpse of what happens when young men commit to being uncommon—together. #uncommon

🎶🥁 The Pride of the Oil Patch 🥁🎶 At Sundown, halftime isn’t a break, it’s a continuation of the sacred Friday Night Lights. Our Sundown Roughneck Band delivers a performance so powerful that no one dares leave their seat. From the very first note of “The Rocky Balboa Theme Song” at kickoff, the energy is absolutely electric, setting the tone for the entire night. We are beyond grateful for the dedication, talent, and heart of our students, directors, and staff who make each show unforgettable. 💙❤️ The game doesn’t truly begin until the band fills the air with that unmistakable Rocky Song that has been a Sundown tradition for decades! #uncommon

FCA 2025 When studying the prodigal son, you have to have a contest to eat like a pig with no hands. Toni and Terry Wilson's banana pudding was a hit. Over 90 showed up to eat, fellowship, and learn about one of Jesus greatest parables!

We would like to invite the Men in these young athletes lives to come join us in putting Friday Night stickers on our helmets. Thursday 8-28-2025 6:00 PM in the weightroom.

The Sudan Hornets and the Sundown Roughnecks found out they are using the same theme for this season "Uncommon Roughneck/Hornet". After the scrimmage on Friday night the 2 teams gathered together and listened as Coach Cornelius of Sudan and Coach Rodgers of Sundown talked to them about what it means to be "Uncommon", not to give into the social media trends, do things the right way, don't follow the crowd. It was an awesome ending to a great scrimmage.

Social Action, a high school class that focuses on community service and volunteerism, is currently doing 2 fundraisers to finance their projects this year. The "Greeting from Sundown" t-shirts feature the artwork designed by former student Julia Evans and painted by SHS students this summer on Sundown City Hall.
