The High School Apollo students went on their research trip a couple of weekends ago. These students spend 1-2 years doing independent research. Topics this year included artificial coral reefs, diesel mechanics, church hierarchies, music, medicine and bioethics, forms of physical recovery and kinesiology, light, comedy and its effect on the brain, sports video/broadcasting, and more. To extend their research, they were able to visit locations in San Antonio related to several student research topics. Their first day in San Antonio they visited the San Antonio Aquarium, Hopscotch Immersive Art Experience, ComedySportz, and the Saga at the San Fernando Cathedral. They began the second day with a 4 hour service opportunity in a San Antonio Food Bank kitchen helping to organize the warehouse, and preparing and serving meals to the residents at Haven for Hope. They then went for lunch at Mi Tierra, and one of the students was able to visit the Archdiocese of San Antonio and was fortunate to interview Father Garcia. They ended their day at the Spurs vs Pacers basketball game. These students are very thankful for this research opportunity and we are very proud of these students! While serving at Haven for Hope, the head organizer actually made the comment “You have the kindest, hardest working, most polite kids. They’re everything good.” And we couldn't agree more! A huge thanks to Mrs. Bufe for her guidance and support for this special group of students! Also a huge thanks to our School Board for continuing to allow our students to experience such wonderful and educational trips!

We are so proud of our athletes for putting forth their best effort last night! We have kids with SUNDOWN HEART! If you haven’t had a chance to watch our kids compete, you are missing out! We also want to give a huge shoutout to our coaches and administrators for their continued support for our athletes. Track can be tough! Running a 400 is tough, and it’s nice to have Coaches and Administrators waiting at the finish line to hug our kids and tell them how proud they are of their efforts! Great day to be a Sundown Roughneck!
