Our SMS Robotics team had a great weekend at Lubbock Cooper High School, competing at the Area Robotics competition! Our students have worked diligently with their invention and their robots to prepare for this day. Our 7th Graders had the opportunity to present their invention in front of an Area Judge, and our students worked through a number of rounds completing tasks with their robots. It was a great opportunity to see our students navigate and troubleshoot the obstacles of the day. Our students were very encouraging to one another, and worked well as a team. It was a great learning experience for those involved. In between rounds they went back to the drawing board, watched film (yes, they watched film to determine where they made mistakes so they could make adjustments), and worked to make their robots more efficient. We are grateful to the parents that showed up to support (and brought some extra food!), and also to our leader, Mrs. Ashley Bufe, for her guidance, wisdom and encouragement throughout the day! Our 8th Grade Robotics Team finished with the 2nd Highest Score in completing the tasks, but failed to place in the overall category. We are proud of our Roughnecks and Roughettes! We are Sundown Smart!
