Mr. and Miss SHS will be formally announced at the academic assembly on Friday morning. However, Mr. SHS....Koy Torres will not be able to attend due to running in Austin at the state track meet. Koy was told and an announcement was made to the high school student body. Koy is an excellent representation of what Mr. SHS should be. When you see this young man please congratulate him. Miss SHS will be announced on Friday.

Good Afternoon! If you haven’t heard, there have been multiple school threats made today online throughout our region. Sundown ISD was not one of the schools who received a direct threat. From what we were told by local law enforcement, the schools receiving threats today were up north (Lockney, Littlefield, Olton, and Plainview) and one down south (Hobbs).
Below is the message we have received from Hockley County’s Emergency Management Agency:
Levelland Hockley County Emergency Management: Public safety officials are aware and working with FBI and state partners regarding threats made towards schools. No specific school has been announced as a target and there is no validation of any specific threat being made. Officials are working to chase down the rumors and any idle remarks. Please remain hyper vigilant and aware! Please report anything that is suspicious around your community or schools.--
In an effort to be hyper vigilant, Chief Foster, other area law enforcement agencies, Staff and all Sundown ISD Guardians are aware of the current situation. Again, with the information we have been provided, we do not believe there is a threat to our school children and staff.

This Friday, May 12th Sundown High School will host their end of year awards ceremony. Program will begin at 9:00 AM. All students need to bring a change of clothes as the high school will be enjoying an afternoon of food and games in the facility after the awards. We look forward to celebrating our students academic achievement with awards and fun!!
