Happy Secretary's Day to these wonderful ladies at Sundown ISD. We are blessed to have them running our school and keeping everything in check and everyone in line. They are an integral part of the climate and culture of our school! They are the voice you hear when you call us, and the face you see when you come up to the school to check on your children. We are fortunate to have some of the best in the business all under one roof! Happy Secretary's Day to Pamela Elam (Superintendent Secretary), Irma Sanchez (Accounts Payable), Desiree Pope (Payroll Specialist), Shanna Richardson (HS), Keri Riley (MS), and Betty Geisler (Elementary).

The Sundown Middle School Apollo Trip was a success!
Mrs. Bufe's Middle School Apollo classes took a trip this past weekend to Hutto High School to compete at the TCEA State Competition in Robotics. The morning began with the 7th and 8th Graders competing in the Invention Project with the showing of their "PyroBot". They showcased their invention to a group of judges while promoting their product. "Blazing the trail to Fire Safety" was their motto, and they had prepared speeches to capture the attention and curiosity of the judges. They did a great job and performed very well! Unfortunately they did not make it to the podium but we are extremely proud of their teamwork and their efforts leading up to and during the event. The next group to compete were our 6th Graders in the Arena competition where they were given the task of creating a robot that was programmed to complete a checklist of items for points. They were teamed up with teams from across the state. We had 2 qualifying teams for this competition with Maddy Medrano and Cohen Thomas qualifying for the Final Match, only 8 teams qualified for this Final Match (with each of the 8 allowed to team up with a fellow qualifying team). Maddy and Cohen came up short in the First Round of the Finals Match but we are extremely proud of them for their efforts!
A trip like this takes a lot of planning, and it involves a lot of moving parts (including the robots). Mrs. Ashley Bufe laid out a great weekend experience for our students including time to prepare for the competition, a fun filled day at SeaWorld in San Antonio, an evening of lounging by the pool, and a celebratory dinner at Hula Hut down by the river in Austin after the competition. She had our students well prepared, and worked countless hours to get them ready for the day of competition. Our students were pushed academically, and really had to rally together to give themselves their best chance of success. If you have never had an opportunity to hang out with Middle School Students over the course of 4 days, you are missing out on life! A lot of laughs were shared, and a lot of questions were asked, many lame jokes were told... Did we mention there were a ton of questions asked?
We are thankful to our parents that traveled with us and lent a helping hand along the way from helping out at the hotel, to making reservations for us at dinner, and simply for their presence at the competition! We want to thank all the parents for allowing your children to hang out with us over the past 4 days!
We really enjoyed our time together, and we are already looking forward to our next trip, which we hope to make bigger and better! Maybe this time, they'll let Mr. Salazar have a little more time for fun at SeaWorld and not cut his fun time short!

Last leg of the MS GT trip… leaving Sweetwater now (1:45 PM). Hope the rain follows us into town! We should arrive around 4 PM.
