FCA 2025 When studying the prodigal son, you have to have a contest to eat like a pig with no hands. Toni and Terry Wilson's banana pudding was a hit. Over 90 showed up to eat, fellowship, and learn about one of Jesus greatest parables!

The Sudan Hornets and the Sundown Roughnecks found out they are using the same theme for this season "Uncommon Roughneck/Hornet". After the scrimmage on Friday night the 2 teams gathered together and listened as Coach Cornelius of Sudan and Coach Rodgers of Sundown talked to them about what it means to be "Uncommon", not to give into the social media trends, do things the right way, don't follow the crowd. It was an awesome ending to a great scrimmage.

Social Action, a high school class that focuses on community service and volunteerism, is currently doing 2 fundraisers to finance their projects this year. The "Greeting from Sundown" t-shirts feature the artwork designed by former student Julia Evans and painted by SHS students this summer on Sundown City Hall.

We’re proud to share the story of Coach Kayla Belew and the incredible Backpack Project at Sundown Middle School!
What started with her personal story has grown into a community effort, students fundraising, the Sundown community offering up their full support, and families breathing easier as their kids start school ready and equipped.

This is more than backpacks. It’s about connection, hope, and intentional leadership. Watch the video below, get ready to be inspired!

Elementary students in Grades 1-5 kicked off the year with an inspiring meeting led by our Elementary Principal Mr. Berry! He shared expectations for a great year ahead and encouraged everyone with the reminder: “You are a ten, building your future step by step.” This has been a great tradition started by our very talented Principal!

Cross Country 2025
RUACH 2025 was a huge success at Sundown ISD! [RUACH - Hebrew for spirit or breath. We have tried to capture what makes Sundown so special and have worked towards spreading that to our staff and students.] We kicked off the week preparing for an incredible new school year under our RUACH 2025 theme: “Guard Against Distractions: Restoring Intent to Your Classroom.” This year, several of our own staff members took the stage to share their wisdom, encouragement, and practical ideas to inspire fellow educators. At Sundown ISD, we believe every student deserves a champion, someone who will stand beside them, believe in them, and push them to reach their full potential. Our hope is that each of us can be that champion, or connect students with someone who can. RUACH 2025 was the best yet, and the Sundown ISD Staff is ready to take on this school year with focus, passion, and purpose!
