Mr. Miguel Salazar Named One of Three Finalists for National Middle School Principal of the Year
Sundown ISD is pleased to announce that Mr. Miguel Salazar, Principal of Sundown Middle School, has been selected as one of three finalists nationwide for the National Middle School Principal of the Year Award, presented by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP). This prestigious award recognizes exemplary school leaders who demonstrate outstanding leadership, a commitment to student success, and a dedication to advancing education.
Mr. Salazar’s leadership at Sundown Middle School has been marked by a focus on academic excellence, student-centered innovation, and the cultivation of a positive campus culture. His recognition at both the state and national levels reflects his unwavering dedication to public education and to the students and staff of Sundown ISD.
Earlier this year, Mr. Salazar was named the 2025 Texas Middle School Principal of the Year by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP). His selection as a national finalist places him among the top educational leaders in the country and positions him to represent the state of Texas on the national stage.
Sundown ISD invites the community to join in congratulating Mr. Salazar on this well-deserved and distinguished honor.

Mrs. Greenhaw’s Fashion Design Final Project. They got to choose their project and design. Jo Escobar designed her pants from beginning to end. Shaun Lopez and Emma Escamilla made puffy blankets. A lot of hours and hard work went into all three of these projects. Great job, ladies!
It's not too late to sign up for the SPC Band Camp! This camp is for students who have completed at least one year of band and have just finished the 5th, 6th, 7th, or 8th grade. The 5-day commuter camp takes place at South Plains College in Levelland JUNE 9TH-13TH, costs just $95, and we will take a bus each day for those who live in Sundown!
