UIL spellers had a great day in Canyon. Emma Escamilla tied for 3rd and missed advancing to state on the tie breaker. Great job Emma! The team comprised of Emma Escamilla, Alexandra Chagoya, Jaymee Medrano, and Ariana Foster finished in 3rd place. Well done girls!!
Morgan Griffith is the regional champion in Ready Writing and advances to state. She also finished with a 4th place medal in Copy Editing. She had to leave Canyon before medals and pictures. Well done Morgan!!

Purpose: Provide students with learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Develop or modify curricula and prepare lessons and other instructional materials to student ability levels.
Education / certifications: Must be certified and able to teach Grades 6-8 English Language Arts & Reading
Attributes / Skills: Energetic, charismatic, creative, extremely flexible, responsible, able to lead small group projects, and passionate about ELAR.
Responsibilities: To include, but not limited to:
â—Ź Classroom teaching assignment in Middle School ELAR
â—Ź Be student centered, creative with instruction, and know how to plan and implement
effective hands-on lessons;
â—Ź Work as a member of the Sundown Middle School and SISD team to ensure the
purposeful implementation of the TEKS with a primary focus on student success;
â—Ź Work with students at varying skill levels challenging them all; and
â—Ź Take on extra duties as needed/assigned, such as: helping with UIL competitions and
tutoring.

JV Girls Softball team played their last game against Hale Center last week and won by a score of 6 to 1. They finished as the undefeated JV District Champs with an overall record of 20 wins and 3 losses! Future is bright!! Congratulations to our Roughettes as well as our Coaches! Keep up the great work!

Roxy Mendoza dominated the girls singles bracket and is the 2024 DISTRICT CHAMPION AND REGIONAL QUALIFIER. Roxy has competed hard for the last 2 years and made it happen this year!! She will be competing at the regional tournament in Amarillo May 7-9.
