Over the weekend the Cross Country teams competed at the LCU Rust Buster Relays and represented the school exceptionally well. The girl's team placed 4 groups in the top 20 (12th, 14th, 16th, and 18th). As a team this resulted in their winning the whole meet! The boy's team placed two groups in the top 20 (15th and 19th). They were the 5th place team for the entire meet. Both of these teams competed against all classifications at this meet and beat many schools that are larger than we. If you see them, be sure to give them a pat on the back for doing such a great job this weekend!

MS Boys Win LCU Rust Buster Relays - Girls Finish 3rd!
Our Middle School Cross Country teams also competed in the LCU Rust Buster Relays this past weekend and did an amazing job representing our school. The Girls' team placed 2 groups in the top 20 (10th and 13th), and as a team, they placed 3rd overall! Our boys team placed 3 groups in the top 20 (1st, 5th, and 19th). The team of Eli Rodgers and MJ Sanchez placed 1st as a group. This resulted in our boys placing 1st overall and winning the whole meet as a team! They competed against all classifications and beat many schools much larger than us. These kids have been working so hard in practice and it definitely showed this weekend.

Mrs. Kayla Belew had a wild idea that we could raise enough funds to purchase school supplies for the entire Middle School, and it has come to fruition! Sundown Middle School is proud to serve the community of Sundown, and we are so grateful to Mrs. Kayla Belew, 7th Grade ELAR Teacher, for putting together a 7th Grade Blanket Fundraiser during the 23-24 school year. Students were able to raise more than $10,000. Sundown Middle School Students had the opportunity to come by the school this past week to retrieve their gift, and there were many smiles to be had! The community has shown so much gratitude for this service project. A huge thanks to Mrs. Kayal Belew and her family for helping to organize and spending hours prepping the backpacks for pick-up! Also thank you to Mrs. April Berry, and Mrs. Kari Rodgers for helping to hand out the backpacks and sharing a smile with the students that we are so excited for the upcoming school year!
* We have had a number of parents ask if there is anything we need, and we honestly would appreciate it if students brought 2 boxes of Kleenex for the upcoming year. For those that have not received their backpacks can pick them up during our Open House coming up on Thursday, August 8th.
