5th Grade enjoyed a trip to Carlsbad Caverns today. They had a great time and were excited to see the things they have learned about this week. More pictures to come.

Sundown Middle School Teachers take over our morning announcements with their version of Napoleon Dynamite doing the SMS Morning Announcements at Sundown Middle School! Napoleon Dynamite (played by Coach Kayla Belew) and Pedro Sanchez (played by Coach April Berry)!
Trooper Alvarez visited with Mr. Buchanan’s 5th period World Geography Class. He discussed a number of topics, including his time in the Marine Corps as a veteran of Desert Storm and his extensive travels on embassy duty. Trooper Alvarez also discussed the challenges and opportunities as a career peace officer. He challenged the students to take social agility seriously as they pursue individual goals. He concluded with a personal appeal to buckle up and stay off devices while driving. We would like to thank Officer Alvarez for his time and dedication to our corner of Hockley County. We also want to thank Mr. Cam Buchanan for organizing this for our students to help educate them!

Next week we will have our Pink Out Bake Sale and Silent Auction - Friday, October 11th. In the past, many organizations have come together to make this day successful and hopefully this year will be no different.
We would like to raise money for Angie Rodriguez and her family. For those of you that might not know Angie, she was a long time employee of Sundown ISD. Angie worked on the elementary campus and was a blessing to many of our own personal children until she retired in 2018. Please help us show this family how important they are to our school and community!

MS District Cross Country Schedule Change of Times:
A change has to be made to the MS races for the meet. We need to move back the MS girls to 4:30PM and the MS boys to 5:00PM. This change has to be made because Morton's school day does not end until 4:30PM. Per UIL rules, we can't start a MS event until after. The district meet is on Monday, Ocober 7th at Yoakum County Park. HS schedule remains the same.
Band to Host a Community Performance Tomorrow Night!
We invite everyone to come out to our public performance on TUESDAY (tomorrow) at the conclusion of our Tuesday Night Rehearsal (9:00pm), right here in Sundown @ Slaughter Field. We can now update you on our first two competition performance times! There is still the possibility that these could change, and of course we will let you know if that happens.
