It has been a week since we were in San Antonio for the State Marching Contest! We are so proud of the accomplishments from our Band, and our Directors! We are so grateful for the time that was invested into our most prized possessions, our children! The adults in their lives during these last 3 months has been an absolute blessing to their lives! Our Band sponsors were rockstars on the trip, and their is NO WAY we could have done it without them! So a huge thanks to all those that made this Marching Season memorable! Included is a YouTube clip of our performance… it never gets old! Here are some words that were shared by Mr. Justin Mauldin after a great season! “There just are not words. The show. The growth. The crowd reaction. Most of all…this Roughneck Band! Five judges had a tough job last night…they had to rank the best “top seven” bands we have seen in the State Finals in quite some time. Each band gave their best shot, and the Roughneck Band was certainly no exception. In the Prelims and the Finals, our Sundown Band students poured their hearts into the two absolute BEST performances of the year of “The Road Home”…a show all about us. All about Sundown. And wow…what a show they put on! Out of 273 2A bands in the state of Texas, our Roughneck Band placed 6th. There were many happy tears as they came off of the field…they knew they had performed very well, and they also knew it was the last time for our seniors. It was the fourth trip to State for these seniors, and the fourth time to be in the State Finals…what an incredible accomplishment! Again…there just are not words. What this band has done with this show goes beyond competition, and yet it was highly competitive. One judge had them ranked #3. This show about “us” touched the hearts of our entire community as we honored our past and embraced our future, all the while living in the moment. Every senior that spoke tonight thanked the very community that was there to welcome the band back home. Sundown is special, and it was special for the Roughneck Band to put together a show that honors Sundown. Thank you to our band students, and thank you to all who support these amazing students. God bestows many blessings, and Sundown is one!” Gob Bless Sundown America! https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&fbclid=IwAR0oiP9SpgYKeB1DGGMmUqrtW2IJ0f9m8rTkri5k7PCa5wdAIFWGeyyg5Jk_aem_AfVx1JYmGm8PSEkhqR0IavfV3kAYFXCIdztbvRvj1wheW_8tta0N7mQtvPC1Vb8OXfA&si=-2v8K4ze6MsxHE8S&v=pv5SVZF8by4&mibextid=Zxz2cZ

The Middle School One Act Play’s public performance of “Twice Upon a Time” was hilarious! Our kids did such a great job! We are so proud of their efforts and their courage to perform in front of their peers, parents and community. They will perform on Saturday in Post and will be the 3rd play to perform. They will run a rolling schedule starting at Noon with the 1st play. Break a leg!
