Sundown High School Senior Graduates from South Plains College with an Associate in Science Before Walking the Stage at her High School Graduation
Sundown High School Senior, Brooklyn Webb, has completed quite the accomplishment today! She graduated as a Dual Credit High School Graduate from South Plains College with an Associate in Science (A.S.) during the SPC Graduation Ceremony. In addition to completing her Associates, she managed to do it with style as she received a perfect 4.0 GPA in the process! Brooklyn is the first student from Sundown High School to earn a Dual Credit High School Associate degree from South Plains College. She began taking classes the summer after her 8th grade year, earning 64 college credit hours, all the while staying involved in school as manager for the cross country and baseball teams, a member of the National Honor Society, State Qualifier in UIL Academics, and other extracurricular activities. Brooklyn was recently named Valedictorian of the Sundown High School Class of 2023 as the Highest Ranking Graduate. We are so proud of her hard work, dedication and integrity in her scholarly accomplishments. She is destined for a bright future! Great job Brooks! Brooklyn Webb is Sundown SMART!

Miss SHS will be announced on Friday.

Good Afternoon! If you haven’t heard, there have been multiple school threats made today online throughout our region. Sundown ISD was not one of the schools who received a direct threat. From what we were told by local law enforcement, the schools receiving threats today were up north (Lockney, Littlefield, Olton, and Plainview) and one down south (Hobbs).
Below is the message we have received from Hockley County’s Emergency Management Agency:
Levelland Hockley County Emergency Management: Public safety officials are aware and working with FBI and state partners regarding threats made towards schools. No specific school has been announced as a target and there is no validation of any specific threat being made. Officials are working to chase down the rumors and any idle remarks. Please remain hyper vigilant and aware! Please report anything that is suspicious around your community or schools.--
In an effort to be hyper vigilant, Chief Foster, other area law enforcement agencies, Staff and all Sundown ISD Guardians are aware of the current situation. Again, with the information we have been provided, we do not believe there is a threat to our school children and staff.

This Friday, May 12th Sundown High School will host their end of year awards ceremony. Program will begin at 9:00 AM. All students need to bring a change of clothes as the high school will be enjoying an afternoon of food and games in the facility after the awards. We look forward to celebrating our students academic achievement with awards and fun!!
