Also, when parking in the drop-off and pick-up lane, please park behind the crosswalk.
Thank you!

Varsity Girls and Boys are Golf District Champions!
Congratulations to Coach Igo and our Boys and Girls Golf Teams for qualifying to compete at the Regional Golf Tournament, with the girls' tournament on April 14-15 and the boys' on April 16-17 at Palo Duro Creek Golf Course by capturing the District Championship Title today.
Congratulations to our SHS Girls for earning 1st Place Team with Jaymee Medrano (110) 3rd Place Individual, Maddy Medrano (110), Addie Hord (119), Bethany Honesto (126), Kassady Rodgers (132), for an overall 1st Place Team finish!
Congratulations to our SHS Boys for earning 1st Place Team with Isaiah Igo (60) 1st Place Individual, Briar Miller (79) 2nd Place Individual, Adan Escamilla (84), Landry Farrar (88), and Brock Bufe (90).
A huge congratulations to Isaiah Igo for shooting 12 under par for the course. On a golf course where the total par is the expected number of strokes for a skilled golfer to complete all holes, shooting 12 under par means the golfer's final score was 12 strokes fewer than that par! That basically means Isaiah Igo had an amazing golf outing today!
V Boys Team 2 Golf results: Jake Carranza (96), Hayden Powell (99), Clay Holdman (111), and Zach Gonzales (136).
We are proud of all of our Roughnecks and Roughettes for a great day at the course!
Go Big Red!!!

The 2025 Sundown Beginning & Middle School Solo & Ensemble Festival, held March 14th was adjudicated this year by Mr. Will Burks, Band Director of Brownfield ISD and Mrs. Melanie Clausen, Sundown, a last minute fill in for a judge not able to make it because of the high winds and dirt. Thank you, Mrs. Clausen for sharing your time and musical knowledge to grow our Sundown Band students!
This year every 5th grader chose to attempt a solo, an ensemble (or 2!), or compete in both. 6th and 7th graders were required to learn one (or more) of their choosing, but had to pass director approval to perform for a judge. All eligible 6th & 7th graders earned a chance to compete. Unfortunately, several students were absent, but almost all of their ensembles were confident for the show to go on.
Smyer Junior High also joined the contest this year bringing 6 students, earning 5 - 1st Division Ratings and 1 Outstanding Rating. Congratulations to these musicians who earned a trip to the Sundown Festival by previously earning a satisfactory rating at their own campus.
We are very proud of each student's effort and the commitment it takes to work with a small group to perform. Many skills are learned through this process and their success shines a light on the bright future ahead for the Pride of the Oil Patch!

Baseball/Softball Updates:
Baseball @ Smyer will be moved to Friday at 5 pm (Varsity only)
Softball @ Tahoka will be moved to 1 pm Saturday
We will monitor the weather with a high chance of rain and notify you of any changes!

There has been a lot going on at SHS lately! Justin Bush and Nathan Flores had a great showing at the state meet in Austin in CX Debate. One Act Play has advanced out of district and bi-district and are headed to area with quite a few acting awards! So proud of all of our kids how they juggle 47 different things at all times.

Sundown was declared the District 5-2A UIL Champion Runner-up on Friday. We took 48 students on Thursday and they competed like champs! Of those 48, 27 qualified for regionals. We had 9 individual champions and 5 team champions! Please give these kids a pat on the back as they continue to prepare for regionals on April 25 and ultimately a spot at the state meet in May.

We are grateful to our track coaches that have invested into our student athletes all season long! These team championships are not possible without the hard work and sacrifice of so many of our student athletes. A number of these team championships were earned in the final event for each division, and to see our student body cheering each other on during the Mile Relay was a sight to see!
