To support our Pink Out Pep Rally and raise funds for our cause, we will be raffling off a crossbow valued at $400. We will sell tickets for $1 a piece, and the winner will be drawn at the pep rally on Friday, October 11th. Raffle tickets are now on sale to the community. Students are not eligible to participate. We want to thank Mrs. Belew and the 8th-grade class for the t-shirts that have been placed in our student’s lockers here at SMS! Everyone has been given an SMS T-shirt to wear on days that we ask you to wear a Sundown T-shirt, or to wear any day you want! So, if you see Mrs. Belew or an 8th grader, be sure to thank them for the shirt! They were purchased with the blanket fundraising money raised last year.

5th Grade enjoyed a trip to Carlsbad Caverns today. They had a great time and were excited to see the things they have learned about this week. More pictures to come.

SMS Middle School Announcements Meets Napoleon Dynamite Worth the watch! https://youtu.be/LbfgPN7nrRo Sundown Middle School Teachers take over our morning announcements with their version of Napoleon Dynamite doing the SMS Morning Announcements at Sundown Middle School! Napoleon Dynamite (played by Coach Kayla Belew) and Pedro Sanchez (played by Coach April Berry)!

Trooper Alvarez visited with Mr. Buchanan’s 5th period World Geography Class. He discussed a number of topics, including his time in the Marine Corps as a veteran of Desert Storm and his extensive travels on embassy duty. Trooper Alvarez also discussed the challenges and opportunities as a career peace officer. He challenged the students to take social agility seriously as they pursue individual goals. He concluded with a personal appeal to buckle up and stay off devices while driving. We would like to thank Officer Alvarez for his time and dedication to our corner of Hockley County. We also want to thank Mr. Cam Buchanan for organizing this for our students to help educate them!
